Need a Poetry Prompt?
Here’s an invitation to write your own memory poem.
The Prompt
Close your eyes. Listen to some silence. What memories do you find inside yourself, behind your eyes?
Try writing about what you find.
Pay attention to imagery and specifically to contrasts in imagery.
What are some beautiful things you’ve seen?
Ugly things?
Large things?
Small things?
Happy pictures?
Sad pictures?
Old pictures?
New pictures?
Questions you know the answers to?
Questions you don’t know the answer to?
How does it feel to come back from that journey?
Can you put that feeling into an image, i.e. can you create a metaphor for that feeling?
In case you missed it earlier. . .
